The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-Kisan Scheme)
The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Yojana is a government scheme for all small and marginal farmers who will receive up to Rs 6,000 /- per year as minimal compensation support. This 75,000 crore PM Kisan scheme is intended to cover 125 million farmers, regardless of the size of their freehold property in India.
According to the pm kisan yojana, farmers who have less than two hectares of agricultural land are entitled to get 6000 rupees yearly. This granted amount for PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme is directly paid to farmers via direct bank transfer in 3 installments (2000 rupees in every four months).
When did the PM-Kisan Yojana come into effect?
This Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme came into effect from 1 December 2018. Prime minister Narendra Modi’s government started Pm-kisan scheme.
PM Kisan Scheme Eligibility Criteria
- Landholding farmers’ families with owner’s name and gender.
- Social classification based on categories (Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes)
- Aadhaar number, bank account details, and contact number, etc.
- Land record details.
- Jan Dhan Bank Account Details, Aadhaar, and contact details will help identify the qualified beneficiaries and inadequate petitioners.
- The central government sponsors this pradhan mantri kisan samman nidhi yojana. But, the farmers need to be the citizen of India.
- The landholding size of farmers’ agricultural land should be less than 2 hectares.
- Farmers can be from both rural and urban areas.
Not Eligible Farmers for Pm Kisan Yojana
The categories of the higher economic standard won’t be get benefited under this Pradhan Mantri Yojana –
(A) All kind of Institutional Landholders
(B) Farmers’ families members who belong to the following categories –
- Previous and present holders of established posts.
- Previous and present Ministers/State Ministers and previous/present Members of LokSabha / RajyaSabha / State Legislative Assemblies / State Legislative Councils, former and present Mayors of Municipal Corporations, previous and present Chairpersons of District Panchayats.
- All serving or resigned officials and representatives of Central / State Government Ministries / Offices / Departments and its field units Central or State PSEs and Attached workplaces/Autonomous Institutions under Government just as customary workers of the Local Bodies.
- All out-dated / resigned retired employees or pensioners whose month-to-month annuity is ₹10,000/ – or more of the above classification.
- All income taxpayers
- Professional experts like Doctors, Engineers, Lawyers, Chartered Accountants, and Architects enrolled with Professional bodies and completing calling by attempted practices.

How To Register For PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Schemes
- Farmers have to approach the local patwari or a nodal officer.
- The Common Service Centres (CSCs) have also been accredited to do the registration of the farmers for the Scheme upon payment of fees
- To avail the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, farmers must register on the https://pmkisan.gov.in/ web portal. They need to upload documents that demonstrate their eligibility. The information of recipients transferred by them goes through a staggering check, including by banks.
- On the authorized web portal of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme – pmkisan.gov.in, go through the ‘farmers’ corner’. Farmers can register themselves through the Farmers Corner in the portal. They can also edit the name in the PM-Kisan database and know the status of their installments.
